KLFS Feature Food Bank: Coboconk and Area Food Bank

The Coboconk and Area Food Bank, a member of Kawartha Lakes Food Source, has been serving its community for over 25 years. It is fully operated by volunteers and relies solely on donations to serve its clients.

The CAFB values the ongoing support from its generous community. There are many annual events that provide food and funding to the food bank. Food drives are held at Ridgewood Public School, local churches and groups. Local events such as the Indian Point Fireworks are dedicated to supporting the food bank. The Coboconk Foodland also supports the CAFB, facilitating food drives and providing food and financial support.

The CAFB moved to a new location at 6694 Hwy 35 in May 2021. The food bank is operating in a much-needed larger space, on one floor. The move has provided increased exposure and better access for clients.

During the pandemic, the CAFB secured funding to support local businesses. The grants allowed the CAFB to provide gift certificates from local restaurants, fresh baked goods, meat and cleaning supplies to all clients.

The CAFB is very fortunate to be supported by such a generous community.
