The Kawartha Lakes Food Source is not a food bank itself. We are a non-profit food distribution agency which supplies 7 member food banks across the City of Kawartha Lakes. Each food bank is its own entity and therefore each operates with slight differences. The food we distribute to food banks is given on a fair share basis, divided up based on how many individuals each member food banks serve.
We do own and operate the Lindsay Community Food Market, one of the member food banks mentioned. However, this food bank is located off-site and has a different phone number. To connect with the Lindsay Community Food Market Coordinator please call 705-328-5758 or email lcfm@kawarthalakesfoodsource.com.

Each food bank's intake process might look a little different but upon your first visit to a food bank, a volunteer or staff will ask for basic personal information to create a profile for you. This information includes your name, date of birth, household size and members, income source, etc. Food banks ask for personal details like your date of birth and income source to better understand the needs of the people they serve. This information helps them: plan and improve food services; apply for funding to support more people, advocate for policy changes to reduce poverty. You only need to share what you are comfortable with, keeping in mind the data is anonymized in their system, which means your name and personal details are removed. Only general information (like age ranges or income sources) is used for reports or research—never anything that can identify you.
