Woodville: KLFS Featured Food Bank

Located in the historic Woodville fire station, the Woodville Eldon Food Bank can be easily spotted by its colourful mural of an old fire engine right outside its doors. Inside, clients and visitors meet an equally vibrant community of volunteers ready to help their community.

The food bank serves approximately 40 families each month, providing a pre-packaged, non-perishable food hamper based on family size, with additional perishable items and hygiene products as needed.

The Woodville Eldon Food Bank was initially launched when a community member saw an issue with food insecurity locally and began operating the food bank out of her basement before moving to its current location, explains Board Chair, Shannon. The food bank has received massive support from the local community. “If you have, you give; if you need, you come,” says Shannon.

The Woodville Eldon Food Bank places an emphasis on reducing the stigma surrounding food insecurity, says Board Secretary, Maggie. “If getting food would help you manage your life and meet your other needs, we are here to help,” she explains.

The Woodville Eldon Foodbank operates 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and is located at 100A Kind St, Woodville ON. For donation deliveries, or emergency needs, call (705) 879-3563.
