Omemee: KLFS Featured Food Bank

Founded in 1992 by the Omemee Christ Church, the Omemee Food Bank is a shopping-style food bank serving roughly 55 individuals in the area.

Clients are able to visit in person once each month and select a week’s worth of food, including fresh produce, pantry staples, bread, and personal care products. This way, Food Bank Chair Cathie Morrissey says, “we know that the clients can pick what they want, and what they know they can use.”

Currently, roughly one-third of the Omemee Food Bank’s clients receive a monthly food box which is delivered to their homes by volunteers.

The food bank is housed in the Omemee Christ Church basement located on 62 King Street in Omemee and is open on the third Monday of every month from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

“I would especially like to thank Christ Church for their generosity with providing this space to us free of cost,” says Cathie. The Omemee Food Bank can be reached at (705) 799-6847
