Little Britain/Mariposa: Featured Food Bank

Located below the Oakwood Public Library, the Little Britain Mariposa Food Bank prepares monthly boxes for 20 to 40 families. Boxes are arranged with clients’ needs and dietary restrictions in mind and are given out through a curbside pick-up model.

The food bank began as an outreach project for the Little Britain United Church and will be entering its twentieth year of operations in November of 2021.

In addition to providing food for families, outreach coordinator Karen distributes activity kits for children on every holiday, provides hygiene kits and purses to women, and connects clients with other resources in the community. “It’s more than just a box of food,” she explains.

The food bank is open on the second and fourth Thursday of each month from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. The food bank can be reached by calling (705) 786-2899.

Edit: Little Britain Mariposa Food Bank is no longer a member effective September 29, 2021.
