Volunteer Excellence Celebrated at KLFS: Barbara Truax Award Presented to Glenda Klein
May 8th, 2024
Kawartha Lakes Food Source (KLFS) proudly recognizes the outstanding contributions of its volunteers, celebrating their dedication and positive impact on the community. Established in 2002, Barbara Truax played a vital role in KLFS’s inception, having a significant impact on all fundraising aspects, including event planning and nurturing the President’s Circle. Presently, Barabara continues her support to KLFS offering help in the office and contributing to food drives. Barbara's legacy of service and commitment is commemorated annually through the Barbara Truax Volunteer Award.
The recipient of this award must embody the following criteria: They must have been a very active volunteer for more than three years; They must be a positive force within the community; They must be entirely committed to the cause of ending hunger in our region.
This year, KLFS is delighted to present the award to Glenda Klein, a dedicated volunteer whose remarkable 12-year tenure exemplifies profound dedication to community service. In her shopping role at KLFS’s food bank, Lindsay Community Food Market (LCFM), Glenda directly interacts with food-insecure individuals. She deeply understands the challenges the clients face and the barriers to food security. Beyond her work at KLFS, Glenda's impact extends as the past president of the Society of St Vincent de Paul (SSVP), where she has advocated for increased financial support for LCFM, which is used to purchase high-need items. Additionally, Glenda goes the extra mile by delivering hampers to housebound clients monthly through SSVP. Glenda's commitment to fighting food insecurity and boosting support for programs like LCFM perfectly represents the essence of the Barbara Truax Award, making her an outstanding recipient.
Join KLFS in expressing gratitude to Glenda for her outstanding efforts in combating food insecurity and making a positive difference in the lives of food insecure individuals.
