KLFS Announces Exciting Thanksgiving Door-to-Door Food Drive Competition

LINDSAY – Kawartha Lakes Food Source is excited to kick off its annual Thanksgiving Door-to-Door Food Drive, a friendly competition between North and South of Lindsay aimed at gathering non-perishable food items for our member food banks. This year’s drive is critical, as our food supplies are running low, and need is greater than ever.

The Thanksgiving Door-to-Door Food Drive will take place on Saturday, September 28th and Saturday, October 5th, with South of Colborne St. being picked up the first Saturday and North of Colborne St. being picked up the second Saturday. Participants are encouraged to place their bagged, non-perishable donations by their front door before 10am on their designated pick-up day. Kawartha Lakes Food Source volunteers will begin collecting donations promptly after 10am.

“As our distribution center and food bank shelves continue to empty, the Door-to-Door Food Drive becomes crucial. This initiative ensures that no one in our community goes hungry this Thanksgiving season,” says Brittni Wells, Volunteer Relations Coordinator at Kawartha Lakes Food Source.

With previous years’ successes yielding over 5,000 pounds of food, Kawartha Lakes Food Source is determined to surpass that milestone this year. Last year, the North side of Colborne Street emerged victorious, but this year’s competition promises to be even more exciting. Will the South side steal the win, or will the North hold its title? Your contributions will help make a significant difference in our community, and every donation counts. The Distribution Centre is currently in need of canned vegetables, canned meat, canned stew, peanut butter, pancake mix, syrup, and pasta, however all non-perishable donations are welcomed.
