KLFS is hiring a Lindsay Community Food Market Coordinator!

The Lindsay Community Food Market (LCFM) is a non-traditional food bank owned and operated by the Kawartha Lakes Food Source which emphasizes the importance of choice and dignity in food banking.

This position is the lead staff at the off-site Lindsay Community Food Market. This position will be responsible for managing current food bank operations, as well as implementing, coordinating, and tracking the success of a new and innovative food literacy program component.

REPORTING TO:  Administration and Programs Centre Manager

JOB TASKS:

  • Oversee LCFM operations
  • Seek, train, and manage volunteers, including scheduling for operations and pick ups
  • Manage and track inventory including food production and purchasing
  • Establish food drives and fundraising events in partnership with KLFS
  • Establish and maintain an LCFM monthly budget
  • Plan for, implement, and track the new food literacy program component of LCFM; including a community kitchen, a garden, and cooking classes
  • Pick up food orders from grocery stores and the distribution centre regularly – access to a reliable vehicle will be required

HOURS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This is a one-year, full time position (40 hours/week). 15 hours of the week are strictly dedicated to food bank operations and 25 hours are dedicated to the food literacy component. After the conclusion of the one year, the position will become part time, with the staff person continuing to work 15 hours each week coordinating the food bank. The position may remain full time if funding continues to be available.

Some evenings and weekends are required for this position.

Due to COVID-19, typical food bank operations have been significantly altered. This is a “front-line” position, and requires the successful candidate to work on-site, and make work related visits to food stores.
