KLFS is hiring a Community Engagement Coordinator!

This position is full time (5 days a week/37.5 hrs per week) and starting rate is $16.75/hr.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

  • All aspects of managing KLFS volunteers: recruitment, retention, and recognition
  • Plan and implement fundraising events to support our operations and programs
  • Plan and implement all KLFS food drive events including Tag Day
  • Provide administrative support to organization and General Manager

Job Description

All aspects with volunteers: recruitment, retention, recognition
Monthly sorting and driver schedule
Seeking to fill committee’s and other activities as needed
Correspondence of other KLFS happenings
Onboard and train
Volunteer appreciation and socials
Maintain Giftworks (volunteer data software)

Support Events Committee Plan all aspects of at least 4 small/medium annual events and 1 large scale event Attend and lead volunteer committee meetings (take minutes, prepare agenda, etc) Provide support to volunteer led events Fill out all paperwork on behalf of KLFS Develop community partnerships        

Support Community Engagement Committee Call and prepare for, and attend committee meetings when needed   Look for new opportunities for partnerships Ensure there is a wrap up summary for each major event Logistics for monthly and the 3 annual major food drives and Tag Day Organizing, scheduling, coin boxes, banana boxes, storage container Fill out all paperwork on behalf of KLFS Provide support to 3rd party events (scheduling and preparing barrel delivery with volunteers, distribution centre drop off and pick up logistics)

Provide administrative support including: Answer telephone and direct calls to appropriate staff Receive donations (financial and food) and record appropriate information Prepare bi-monthly newsletter content, distribution to volunteers etc Weekly filing Prepare daily mail and deliver to post office Ordering/purchasing of office supplies Recording annual membership renewals, insurance coverage, signed agreements and attendance at monthly meetings if deemed necessary Prepare and track thank you letters Support MAAG (Link2Feed), Grab N’Grow (school contracts, etc. and tracking), manage school agreements and update monthly reporting and tracking Other tasks as directed by the General Manager

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION

  • Takes initiative and is a decision maker
  • Experience working with volunteers including understanding of the role of volunteers in agency operations & effective volunteer engagement practices
  • Strong computer literacy including software programs including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Publisher), and ability to learn new software quickly
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • You are a volunteer in the community
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a car
  • Some evening and weekends will be required for meetings and events
