The generosity was very heartwarming.
Kawartha Lakes Food Source (KLFS) is blown away by the generosity of all who came to Kawartha Lakes This Week, Home & Christmas Show at the Lindsay Ex, Commonwell Building on November 3 and 4.
The show is hosted annually by Kawartha Lakes This Week and they have invited us for the past few years to have volunteers posted at the doors to collect both nominal and food donations.
This year the show was hopping busy and all who came through the door had non-perishable food donations or gave generously through cash donations. Our total for food donations jumped from 3,017 pounds of food last year to an amazing 4,815 pounds this year. Lindsay Movers & Storage donated the use of a container to store all of the food on site during the event.
Volunteer and Event Coordinator, Rebekah Willis coordinated the volunteers for the weekend and said, “This was an amazing show and the kindness of people who came out was amazing to see. People were coming with just not one item, but multiple. Total cash donations were down from last year, but with such a big jump in food donations that makes sense. Thank you to all who donated.”
Mrs. Willis would like to extend a big thank you to the hosts on behalf of KLFS, “We are so very grateful to Kawartha Lakes This Week for inviting us to receive the donations at the front door in lieu of an entrance fee. Thank you to all the volunteers who donated your time to receive the donations. We would also like to thank Lindsay Movers for the use of the container. It was a huge help to have storage on site and contained in one area.”
