Community Food Program
Donation Tax Credit
As of January 1st, 2014 all Ontario farmers who donate their agricultural produce to eligible community food programs, including food banks, are eligible for an extra tax credit.
This exciting new tax break is intended to support farmers in reducing their taxable income while helping to feed children, adults and seniors in Ontario who are hungry.
Three Easy Steps
- donate the food to Kawartha Lakes Food Source (KLFS) 705-324-0707.
- using fair market value, KLFS will provide you with a gift-in-kind charitable donation receipt.
- on your income tax return, farmers may claim this receipt as a charitable donation and also claim the Ontario Community Food Program Donation Tax Credit for 25% of this donation value.
